Heel pain in active kids and teens
Sever’s Disease (or Calcaneal Apophysitis) is the most common cause of heel pain in children aged 8–14, especially those involved in running and jumping sports. It happens when the growth plate at the back of the heel becomes inflamed from repeated impact and strain where the calf muscle attaches to the heel bone.
