Forefoot Pain?

Pain in the ball of the foot caused by different conditions

Forefoot pain is a broad term that covers several conditions affecting the front of the foot. These issues often develop from overuse, pressure, poor footwear, or biomechanical problems—and a proper diagnosis is key to effective treatment.

Common Causes

• Bursitis – Inflammation of small fluid-filled sacs between or over the bones in the forefoot, often from pressure or repetitive movement.
• Morton’s Neuroma – A nerve irritation between the toes, most commonly in the third webspace, causing sharp, burning pain or numbness.
• Plantar Plate Injury – Damage to the ligament beneath the toe joints that can lead to toe misalignment or dislocation.
• Capsulitis – Inflammation of the joint capsule at the base of the toes, often due to overload or sudden trauma.
